My Message of the Month
What color is your egg?

Spring is here and once again Mother Nature will create a composition of color and fragrance filling our planet in technicolor wizardry.
A wonderful aroma of freshness and new beginnings.
The egg, an ancient symbol of new life, has been associated with pagan festivals celebrating spring.
In the month of April, both Christianity and Judaism use eggs as part of their holiday celebration . The Easter egg is used by Christians as a symbol of the rebirth , the resurrection of Christ.
Mourning the past, during Passover, Jews use the egg as a symbol of their hope and prayer for the future.
The average American eats around 33 lbs. of eggs per year. There are over 50 billion eggs produced each year in the United States alone. You can only imagine world wide how many people share life with eggs.

Bird eggs of all kinds have been turned into works of art for centuries. Emu and ostrich eggs thought to be thousands of years old have been found in South Africa decorated with carvings and engravings. The thickness of these large eggs makes the carving possible.
Eastern Europeans, mainly Slavs, have a rich history of decorating chicken, duck, and goose eggs. These cultures use dyes, wax, scraping and appliques to create beautiful works of art.
All over the world we use and embrace the egg!
They are apart of daily lives, a component of our nourishment and growth. Eggs contain vitamin D (important for the absorption of calcium), phosphorus, vitamin A (for healthy vision, skin, and cell growth) and two B-complex vitamins that your body needs to convert food into energy. They are a good source of riboflavin, selenium and Choline that helps boost brain development protecting age-related memory loss. Eggs are also high in carotenoids that help protect our eyes from macular dgeneration.
How sad it would be if we judged the egg because of it's outside color or design, missing out on all that we can gain from the inside.
Eggs like people come in all colors, some are brown, some are white. They also come in blue and even green. We choose to decorate them differently to express our mood or personality. There is a hard shell on the outside for protection and much sustenance on the inside. Put a variety of different colored eggs in one basket and you get a rainbow of love and deliciousness.
Imagine what you get when you put a variety of people together, without judgment, allowing them their individual beauty and expression.
Just imagine!

Happy April!

In joy,
Dino
